this is my community.

i live on an island called Oahu.

in the middle of the   Pacific Ocean.

i care for the 'aina.

(the land which provides life for us.)

up until i was 18,
i followed the status quo.

i was just like you.

a "broke" college student who aspired toward the 'american dream' of going viral on tiktok and miraculously gaining fortune and fame for my amazing talents.

What happened to me?
it wasn't until i was working 4 jobs to afford rent while going   to college stimutaneously that i was forced to wake up...

--- it was a nice casual Sunday afternoon after getting home            from a job working as an A.V assistant for a local                           church. that's when i suddenly felt a striking pain
              rage up my spine.

i tried to disassociate from it.
i tried to sleep it off.
i tried to take a hot shower.
but the pain lasted for hours.
i could barely move.

in desperate measures,
i called up each of my divorced parents
who lived across the island.

i asked for some pain meds.

they said the drive was too far.

so there i was crying because the pain

   was so intense,
       alone
           in my living room.

i couldn't take it.

i got up and drove myself to the E.R.
